The International Institute of Projectiology and Conscientiology (IIPC)

The International Institute of Projectiology and Conscientiology (IIPC) is an independent, private, non-for-profit institution of research and education based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Since it was founded in 1988, the IIPC has been dedicated to the development and dissemination of Projectiology, which is the scientific study of consciousness through out-of-body experience, or OBE (the near-death experience being an involuntary OBE).

The IIPC has developed a broad program of educational activities nationally and internationally in its laboratory-school, with the purpose of informing both the scientific community and the general public on the latest developments in psychical research.  Over 30,000 individuals have taken experiential courses on out-of-body experience and Bioenergy in IIPC’s office throughout the USA, Canada, England, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, and Brazil.

The research held by the IIPC has no connection to religious, mystical, or political subjects.  The studies are based on scientific principles and years of research and experience.  Over 350 professionals in medicine, engineering, physics, biology, psychology, and other fields contribute to IIPC research.  The IIPC has published several works, including more than 30 books in up to three languages.  The scientific information compiled and extended by the IIPC is presented in two scholarly books of approximately 1000 pages each, authored by Waldo Vieira, MD.  One of them alone has a bibliography of 5116 entries from sources of 37 countries in 20 different languages.

As one of the largest and most well-researched institutions dedicated to the study of out-of-body experiences, the IIPC has been invited to lecture at many universities and organizations, such as: Beyond the Brain Congress (Cambridge, England); 11th Annual International Symposium on Acupuncture & Electro-Therapeutics (Columbia University); American Society for Psychical Research (NYC); Parliamentary Earth Summit – ’92 Global Forum (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil); Frankfurt International Book Fair (Germany) had publications displayed in 1994;  I International Forum of Consciousness Research – October ’99 (Barcelona, Spain).  The IIPC is also teaching courses in conjunction with the Miami-Dade Community College (Florida, USA).

Landmark events have been organized by the IIPC, beginning with the First International Congress of Projectiology in Rio de Janeiro in 1990.  The IIPC also held symposia, debates, forums, and panel discussions on consciousness research.  Over 100,000 individuals have participated in IIPC events.

IIPC’s study aims to expand and improve the full understanding of human nature and the broad scope of human abilities – subjects that have come to be of major interest of the community.  In the USA, offices of the International Institute of Projectiology and Conscientiology have been established in Florida and New York.
